Parish Thanksgiving with CDFpay

Have you heard the Good News? CDF is supporting parishes to accept cash-free offerings. Anyone physically attending your church, or visiting your website/online services, should be able to give an offering in a way that is easy, secure and safe.

For people gathering at your Church we have electronic Smart Terminals, and for online giving there’s CDFpay for Parishes, an online giving portal. For those of you who might be familiar with CDFpay, the online platform has been updated to provide more options for parishioners, and greater reporting detail for your team.

With these tools in place, you will be able to offer your community new pathways to give towards the valuable work, and many activities of your parish.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our parish already has direct debit, why should I consider CDFpay?

Signing parishioners up for direct debit involves considerable administration and paperwork. CDFpay for Parishes provides an opportunity for parishes to take a quantum leap towards automated giving online.

  • Isn’t it easier to share our parish BSB and Account Number?

Sharing this information publicly is not safe and also increases the level of administration when identifying and collating payments. CDFpay for Parishes makes it easy and reduces the opportunity for error. As long as access to the internet is available, online giving can be made anywhere via the safe and secure platform.

  • Why are personal details collected when parishioners make a payment? Are their details safe?

Personal details are required for validating payments. CDF respects the privacy of all personal information entered into CDFpay and is committed to upholding the Australian Privacy Principles. Any personal information will remain secure and confidential.

For more information view the CDF Privacy Policy.

  • Does CDFpay for Parishes only accept Credit Card?

Parishioner payments can be made via either Debit or Credit Cards (Mastercard and Visa). We are working to add more payment options for parishioners in the near future.

  • What about our current Thanksgiving envelopes?

While thanksgiving envelopes and other systems continue, CDFpay provides an additional option for parish visitors who may not have cash on-hand to give an offering.

What others are saying:

‘We tried other online payment options, but it meant our parishioners had to visit multiple sites online. CDFpay for Parishes is directly linked from our parish site. Because it’s Catholic Development Fund it’s seen as trusted by our congregation.’

Fr Nicholas Pearce – Holy Family, Mount Waverley

‘Given what’s happening right now (COVID-19) there’s is an immediate pragmatic need to provide new ways for parishioners to make payments. CDFpay for Parishes, facilitates this for our community in a secure and credible way.
However, I believe that there’s also an amazing opportunity for our church longer term if we can have the courage to sensitively start a wider conversation about giving. A conversation that ties to the idea of sacrifice and mission as an expression of faith.’

Fr Daniel Serratore – St Benedict’s, Burwood
